First Aid & CPR India
India
India's National Minimum Guidelines for Crèches (2024) and the National Crèche Scheme, overseen by the Ministry of Women & Child Development and the Ministry of Labour & Employment, require every crèche to keep a first-aid kit and a medical kit on the premises. First aid and CPR certification for staff is strongly advised as good practice, but it is not yet a legal mandate, and no minimum number of certified staff is fixed. In practice, this leaves the true standard of readiness to each centre's own commitment to the children in its care.
India has no childcare- or school-specific framework for anaphylaxis or stock epinephrine, and auto-injectors are not reliably available nationally — injectable adrenaline is prescription-only. Childcare centres are therefore neither required nor equipped to hold or administer epinephrine, which places the emphasis squarely on prevention, on knowing each child's allergies, and on summoning emergency medical help quickly. Staff trained to recognise a severe reaction and respond calmly are a centre's strongest safeguard.

Where the law sets only a baseline, it is a centre's own choice to go further that truly protects children — and in an emergency, the seconds before help arrives belong to whoever is standing there. A recognised, standards-based first aid and CPR certification turns good intentions into practised, confident action, and shows parents that their child's safety is taken seriously. Readiness chosen freely, not merely required, is the mark of a caregiver families can trust.
